The Macarthur Regional Organisation of Councils (MACROC) was an advocacy body for the three local government authorities in the Macarthur region – Camden Council, Campbelltown City Council and Wollondilly Shire Council.
Formed in 1986, MACROC’s mission was to work at a regional level to advocate, promote regional cooperation and to leverage additional funding for a wide range of projects of regional significance.
As a result of the Western Sydney City Deal new opportunities have arisen for the MACROC Councils to partner with eight Western Sydney Councils and the decision was made to dissolve MACROC effective from 7 September 2018.
Information on each of the previous member Councils of MACROC can be found on their individual websites:
To support the embedding of good waste management practices early, MACROC developed an interactive educational resource for primary school students. To target key audiences MACROC undertook a market research process whereby we consulted with 100 teachers in the Camden, Campbelltown and Wollondilly council areas about how they teach waste management.
The Macarthur Business Hall of Fame acknowledges business entrepreneurs who have contributed not only to the creation of employment and economic growth in the Region but who have also been actively involved in contributing to the social fabric of our community.
