Camden Councillor Penny Fischer has been elected as the new President of the Macarthur Regional Organisation of Councils (MACROC) for the next two years.

Cr Fischer said that she was honoured to be elected as President. “I am looking forward to representing the Macarthur Councils at a regional level and to working with the MACROC Board and Executive to build on MACROC’s achievements to date”.

Cr Fischer was elected to Camden Council in September this year but she is no stranger to politics having worked in Federal Politics for a number of years, and no stranger to the issues that affect the Macarthur region as a whole.

“My young family and I have made a long-term commitment to living in Camden and the Macarthur Region. We see it as an ideal place for the children to grow up. I believe we are fortunate to live in a unique area of NSW. Macarthur is a great place to work, to live and to raise a family and I am committed to safeguarding all that is great about our region, while at the same lobbying governments to ensure better outcomes for all residents,” Cr Fischer said.

“Our MACROC Councils share a vision for the Macarthur region and I look forward to working with the members of the MACROC Board to address the opportunities and challenges that face the region as a whole”.

The new Deputy President of MACROC is Councillor Ted Rowell, from Campbelltown City Council.
