Wollondilly Shire Council Councillor Benn Banasik was last night elected as the new President of the Macarthur Regional Organisation of Councils (MACROC) for the next two years.

Cr Benn Banasik said that he was honoured to be elected. “I am looking forward to representing the Macarthur Councils at a regional level and will work to build on MACROC’s achievements to date”.

Cr Banasik has been a Councillor since 2008 and served as Deputy Mayor from September 2009 to September 2010. Cr Banasik is no stranger to the MACROC Board having been a Board Member since 2008.

“I have lived in Wollondilly since I was four years and went to school at Picton High before attending Campbelltown TAFE. I believe we are privileged to live in a unique area and I am committed to working to maintain our lifestyle while at the same time improving infrastructure and employment opportunities for our residents”, Cr Banasik said.

“Our MACROC Councils share a vision for the Macarthur region and I look forward to working with the members of the MACROC Board who put aside personal politics to address the opportunities and challenges that face the region as a whole”.

The new Deputy President is Councillor Debbie Dewberry from Camden Council. Cr Dewbery has been a member of the MACROC Board since 2007.
