Peter Donnelly trained as an Accountant and commenced his career in the Automotive Industry as an Assistant Accountant with the Sutton’s Motors Group in 1977. Over the next 15 years Peter worked with a number of large car dealerships until he decided to go into business for himself.
In 1992 he set up operation in the Macarthur area, opening a used vehicle outlet on Blaxland Road, Campbelltown and acquiring another site at Narellan. New vehicle franchises were subsequently acquired: Subaru in 1993 and Chrysler Jeep in 1994.
Over the years The Peter Donnelly Automotive Group has continued to grow, with dealerships not only in Macarthur, but also the Southern Highlands. A further expansion occurred in 2005 when the Peter Donnelly Group opened an additional used vehicle outlet in Wollongong.
The Group currently retails over 3,000 new and used vehicles per annum, operating from six sales sites and four parts and service facilities.
The Peter Donnelly Automotive Group employs 90 people and has a turnover in excess of $85 million.
Apart from contributing to the economic growth of the Macarthur Region, Peter Donnelly strives to be a good corporate citizen, with a focus on the community in which he lives and operates his business.
Peter is a Rotarian, a Paul Harris Fellow and sits on various charity committees. He is Chairman of the Lifeline Macarthur Charity Fundraising Committee and a Member of the Mater Dei Foundation.
Peter lives in Camden with his wife Megan, and their children Bethan and Rohan.
